The Man Behind The Music
Ian Morrison was borned into a family of musicians. With strong musical influences from his father, Ian grew up to American Jazz Standards, Classical, Soul, Blues, Rock, R&B and Pop. Having started out as a classical pianist, Ian knew that was not going to be his forte. Having graduated from university with a Business & IT major, Ian's passion for music took center stage at some points of his professional career. Upon completion of his classical studies, Ian went on to learn Jazz, Blues and Pop. It was through these genres that Ian gradually found his way.
Ian started performing in bars, lounges and clubs as a solo pianist and subsequently, as a pianist and keyboardist with several bands. During this time, he realized piano playing alone was insufficient. Ian started learning how to sing and discovered that he was not too bad at it. As Ian travelled and gained more performance experience, he started experimenting with arrangement and composition.
Ian began experimenting with multiple instruments which included the clarinet, drums, bass synthesizers and sequencers. Now, having gone through the full circle, Ian would like to be catergorized as a Pop Contemporary musician. With influences of Jazz, Blues, Soul & Rock, Ian's music is a collage of interesting pallatable flavours.
Ian Morrison is also a familiar name to the music education scene. Having first started out as a personal music teacher to individuals of all ages, Ian progressed into group and corporate classes. Ian wrote music enrichment programmes for government ministries, public schools and corporate initiatives. As an educator, Ian placed his students before him and was always in search of fresh, quick and effective teaching approaches.
